The situation

What has happened

The Head Trainer has given the Racing Manager a list of horses to nominate for the week of 21 September 2026: Coastal Ember at Cranbourne, Bellbrook Rocket for a barrier trial, Kestrel Comet if it pulls up well from Pakenham, and Northgate Flyer at Kilmore subject to its trial. Each horse must be checked in the Horse Register for its status and in the Treatment and Medication Log for any active withholding period before it goes in. Nominations and acceptances have hard deadlines and a late acceptance costs the owner a start. Anything doubtful must go back to the Racing Manager before entry.

Your brief. Enter the nominations correctly in the Nominations and Race Entries system, check each horse against the Horse Register and the Treatment and Medication Log, note the acceptance deadlines, and refer any horse with an injured status or an active withholding period to the Racing Manager.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Check that every nomination was preceded by a status and withholding check, that Marrandale Prince or any injured horse is not nominated, and that deadlines are recorded correctly. The student must show they refer doubtful horses rather than decide themselves and that they would not nominate a horse inside its clear date even on instruction.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
