Racing Integrity and Prohibited Substances Policy

Purpose. This policy sets the controls that keep Silverstride horses and staff compliant with the prohibited substance, betting and conduct rules of racing.

1.Purpose

Trainers are strictly liable for any prohibited substance found in a horse they present to race. This policy describes how the business prevents accidental or deliberate administration and how it meets the integrity obligations on staff conduct and betting.

2.Medication control

All medications must be stored in the locked medication room at each property and issued only by the Veterinary Liaison and Welfare Manager or a delegated person. Every administration must be recorded in the Treatment and Medication Log before the horse is treated, with the product, dose, route, time and the withholding period.

• Locked storage and a stock count each Monday
• No treatment without a log entry
• Withholding period entered against the horse
• Feed supplements approved before purchase
• No treatments on race day except as the rules allow

3.Race day

A horse with an active withholding period will not be nominated. The Racing Manager must check the Treatment and Medication Log before every acceptance. Staff must cooperate fully with stewards and swab officials and must not leave a horse unattended in the swab stall.

4.Staff conduct and betting

Staff must not bet against a Silverstride runner, pass inside information or accept any benefit in connection with a race. Licensed staff must present for drug and alcohol testing when required. Any approach by a person seeking information or influence must be reported to the Head Trainer the same day.

5.Breaches

A breach of this policy is serious misconduct. The business will report to the racing authority as the rules require and will cooperate with any inquiry. Staff who report concerns in good faith will be protected.
