The situation

What has happened

Melton Mirage is a two-year-old filly nominated for her first race on 3 October 2026. She has been jogging well after gear adjustments, and a physiotherapy review is due in two weeks. Tanya Okoro wants a written three-week program of jog work and fast work, a trial date, and a gear inspection of the harness and sulky before the trial. A sulky wheel struck the rail on 2 September and was replaced, so the gear inspection needs to be careful. Gear must be declared correctly for the first start and the filly must be handled quietly through the barrier and mobile start procedure.

Your brief. Prepare a three-week jog work and fast work plan for Melton Mirage in the Trackwork and Stable Roster, complete a harness and sulky inspection, record any fault in the Incident and Hazard Register, and confirm the gear declaration for the 3 October nomination.

What to look for

Evidence guide

Look for a program that builds gradually and respects the physiotherapy review, a gear inspection that is specific about each item, and a correct gear declaration. The student must show they recognise signs the filly is not ready for a mobile start and that they wear a helmet and vest and follow track direction rules.

The student's evidence summary lists every record they created or changed in the systems named above, their notes and the tasks they ticked. Verify it against the deliverables and your own assessment tool.
