Purpose. This register records every horse arriving at or leaving a Silverstride property, its isolation status and its health checks during isolation.

1.What the register records

The register holds one line per movement: the horse, the property it came from or is going to, the date, the transport, the person receiving or dispatching, the isolation yard allocated and the date isolation ends. Temperatures taken during isolation are recorded against the movement line.

2.Who maintains it

The person receiving or dispatching the horse must make the entry on the day. The Veterinary Liaison and Welfare Manager reviews the register weekly and signs off the release of each horse from isolation.

3.Isolation rules

No horse will leave isolation before the minimum period unless released in writing. Any horse with a temperature above 38.5 degrees Celsius must be reported immediately and will not be released until cleared by a veterinarian.

4.Traceability

The register is the business's record for disease tracing. It must reconcile with the Horse Register and with the transport records. Entries must never be removed; corrections are made as new entries.

5.Retention and access

The register is kept for seven years and made available to the state agriculture department and racing authority on request.
